Playday Rules

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS. The Texas Animal Health Commission requires you to have a current Coggins form (Negative EIA test) on any horses being transported and in contact with other horses.

I understand I will be responsible for providing a valid Coggins Form if asked by a W.R.C Officer or State Inspector. If a valid Coggins Form is not presented, I will be asked to leave the property.

SIGN-UP. All start times will be listed on the event calendar and flyer. The arena will be cleared 15 minutes prior to the start of each event. All entry forms will be due prior to the start of the rider's age division. Late arrivals/entry will be at WRC's discretion.

RAIN-OUT OR CANCELLATIONS. All weather-related cancellations or delays will be posted on the WRC Facebook. Every effort to reschedule will be made but will ultimately be at the discretion of the WRC Board.

In the event that there are multiple weather cancellations that are not able to be made up with the preset rain dates, a minimum of 3 series events must be held in full for series awards to be given. If 3 or more events are not held, nomination fees will NOT be refunded. All nomination fees should be considered non-refundable once paid.

AWARDS & NOMINATION. All WRC Members in good standing are automatically eligible for series awards. Non-WRC Members may nominate for a fee of $20 PER Rider. Points will not accumulate until the nomination form has been completed and payment received. Riders must attend 75% or more of Series Events to qualify for the Series Awards.

A Rider may only nominate ONE time per series.  Multiple horses may be ridden, the first horse to cross timer will be considered a riders point earner in the event, not the horse with the best time.

TIE-BREAKER. In the event of a tie for awards, the best combined time on the mystery events will decide the winner.

AGE DIVISIONS. There will be five age divisions: Assisted (non-competitive), Pee-Wee, Youth, Teen, and Adult. Riders may only elect to be in the division based on their age as of January 1st. A Rider may elect a One-Time “Age Up” to move up one Age Division during the Series. The Rider will be eligible to ‘transfer’ a maximum of 1 PT (participation point) to their new Age Division per Event.

Assisted Rider / Leadline. Any Age of Rider when assisted by someone (Runner). The Runner must assist from the ground, ensuring that the horse starts and stops the timer. The Runner/Assistant does not have to remain in contact with the horse but can lead from the ground with a leadline. This division is NON-COMPETIVE and all nominated Riders + the Runner will receive prizes at the end of the series.

Pee Wee. Ages 7 & Under. The Rider must be able to ride without contact from another.

Youth. Ages 8 to 12

Teen. Ages 13 to 17

Adult. Ages 18 and Older. If enough nominated riders, WRC may elect to add a Senior Division for those 40+.

ASSISTANCE. In all competitive classes, once a rider starts his/her pattern, no physical assistance will be allowed by anyone inside the arena who is on the event side of the start/finish line. At a parent or guardian’s request, a judge may assist a rider. However, if the judge physically assists or leads the rider or has the rider follow them through the pattern, a no-time will be given. A parent or guardian can choose to assist their child at any time, but if the timer line is crossed a no-time will be given.

POINTS & RIBBONS. Points will be awarded to all WRC Members & Nominated Riders based on placing order. Riders who have not nominated will not be considered when placing. Points will only begin to accumulate once a nomination form and nomination payment has been received, no prior participation will be counted. Ribbons will be awarded to the top six (6) places per event. All Leadline/Assisted & Pee-Wee Riders will receive a ribbon for each event!

1st Place - 7 PTS;    2nd Place - 6 PTS;    3rd Place - 5 PTS;   4th Place - 4 PTS

 5th Place - 3 PTS;  6th Place - 4 PTS;  Qualified Rides 7th Place + - 1 PT;

No-Times - 0 PTS

ARENA JUDGE(S). Each Event will have a minimum of one (1) Judge in the arena or the announcer stand. The judge’s decision on all runs will be final.

GATE POLICY. The alleyway gate will be closed after all contestants enter. Riders 8 & Older may request for the gate to be left open at registration or by politely asking the gate person upon entering. All animals should be under control prior to exiting the alleyway! The area around the alleyway gate must be kept clear at all times and all children should be monitored by their parent or guardian when in that area.

SPORTSMANSHIP. All contestants and guests on the WRC grounds must properly conduct themselves at all times. The use of profane language, alcohol, or other disorderly conduct while on WRC grounds will be sufficient cause for disqualification and removal of any WRC-sanctioned events. Correction of one's horse is allowed; however, abuse of any animal will not be tolerated.

Horses that kick must have a red ribbon tied to their tail. WRC may have some ribbon on hand, but is not guaranteed. Horses who are deemed a liability to other horses, contestants, or guests may be asked to leave WRC grounds.

Thank you to our Playday Sponsors!
